Following the enactment of the Buildings Energy Efficiency Ordinance (BEEO) in 2012, EMSD promulgated their first BEC and EAC in the same year. These two Codes of Practice are reviewed every three years to ensure that they can keep pace with the times. Similar to the last update, EMSD consulted major stakeholders and professional institutions and kept abreast of the latest technology advancement and development of relevant international standards on energy efficiency with ARUP as the consultant engaged in this second review.

This seminar will introduce the two new codes by comparing the uplifted energy efficiency standards and requirements of air-conditioning, lighting, electrical, and lift and escalator installations between BEC 2018 with the previous edition and the enriched content on technical aspects and details on carrying out energy audits under the EAC 2018.
